If things aren’t going to plan, at some stage the business you work for will ask you to review what’s going on. You’ll start to dig deep, tease apart and challenge the thinking that surrounds your situation.

When you do this, it will probably get messy. Especially if people begin to feel as though they are under attack. If they feel that their previous judgement and behaviour is in question. The deeper you go down the rabbit hole the more uneasy it will become.

The urge for flight will become very pronounced. Fight it. Stick with the exploration and dig deeper. It’s important that if you are going to actually solve the problem/ issue/ dilemma, that you need to really understand what’s going on.

The closer you get to the truth, the more hopeless it may feel until… opportunities start to appear. If you don’t bail early, like most people do when it gets uneasy, you will be presented with new opportunities.
